Swallowing Money

A budget-conscious council in Austria has requested that swimmers stop swallowing water in a bid to save money.
According to a survey carried out by managers at Vienna's 18 public swimming pools bathers are drinking 5,000 litres of chlorinated pool water a day.
Official Martin Kotinsky said: "A lot of water gets taken out in the material every time a swimmer uses the pool and it has to be replaced."
He pointed out that, as well as replacing water, authorities had to spend £20 on chlorine - £1.11 per pool.
The council is also targeting people who wear Bermuda shorts to go bathing.
Tests revealed that the average wearer takes 2.5 litres of water with them trapped in their swimwear every time they get out of the pool.
Mr Kotinsky said: "A lot of water gets taken out in the material every time a swimmer climbs in and out. That means that for every 1,000 visits to the pool we lose 2,500 litres of water."
Complaints about shrinking pools come amid heatwave in Austria that has boosted the number of swimmers.

Red Bull Stunts

An Austrian skydiver has completed a remarkable stunt, somersaulting from one glider to another while traveling at 100mph. Paul Steiner, from Salzburg, climbed out of the cockpit, walked along the wing and then front rolled onto a second glider that was traveling underneath it.
The daredevil then moved onto the main fuselage of the second glider, while the first glider turned upside down and flew overhead. This allowed Steiner to reach up and grab the tail fin, forming a link between the two aircraft s.
Steiner then completed the stunt by skydiving off the glider, which was flying over 2000 metres above Austria.
The incredible stunt was carried out by the Red Bull skydive team.

Hitler help

A council in Austria is attempting to block the sale of the house where Adolf Hitler was born over fears it could fall into the hands of neo-Nazis who would turn it into a shrine to his memory and again propagate his ideals. The owner of the house in Braunau-am-Inn wants to put it on the market with a likely asking price of over £2million. But there is not enough money in the town coffers to buy the property and the council plans to appeal to the government. Hitler was born in the house on April 20, 1889. His mother Klara and father Alois, rent ed a suite of rooms above the pub and lived in the apartment until 1892 when they moved to Linz.
